FSA Successfully Places Teleportation Module on Moon

By James K. Woodridge, Staff reporter for Space and Science News

July 23rd, 2184 Sao Paulo, Brazil - The United States federal space agency, in partnership with the Brazilian heavy launcher consortium Brassa, delivered the first teleportation unit to the FSA lunar base on Farside as part of Operation "Moon Vista", FSA's program to expand lunar exploration using teleportation and PT technologies.

FSA officials proudly cut the ribbon on the Earth's end of the Farside delivery conduit in Houston, saying that this signals a new era for lunar research and development, and commercial exploitation of Earth's satellite. After a month-long testing period, the FSA plans to phase out the Epsilon delivery schedule.

"With any luck, we will retire the Epsilon VI rockets within the year, and make obsolete the enormous expense and pollution issues associated with most launchers. We foresee a day when all launches will take place on the moon instead of on Earth, saving vast amounts of fuel and making permanent occupation of space a real possibility."

Two Epsilon VI heavy lifters were used to transport the considerable bulk of the large payload teleportation module into Earth's low orbit, with the first boosting it into orbit and a cislunar booster delivered by the second Epsilon VI which carried it the rest of the way to the moon.

"We wanted to deliver the teleporter unit basically intact. This necessitated the dual lifter strategy," commented Dr. Khuong Bui, Operation Moon Vista mission director for the FSA, "Assembling large machinery on the moon can be quite difficult and this allowed us to test much of the apparatus on Earth."

This dual delivery strategy was last utilized during the original construction of the base when a fusion power plant and a cooling apparatus were sent to the base.

"If we had had the teleportation technology in place when we established Farside, imagine the cost savings we would have enjoyed. And the showers!" mused Robin Nguyen, Farside director from 2178 through 2182. Showers on the facility are limited to 10 minutes every 2 days.

In reaction to FSA's success, Finnish anti-lunar-exploration cult Kaunis Kuu (Beautiful Moon) released a statement warning of "dire consequences from the heavens and universe if mankind continues to exploit its glorious sister".
